This was my view outside my hotel window in San Francisco. During my week stay there, when I woke up, I couldn’t see a foot outside the window cause of the fog. The last morning, I woke up and saw this.

The Church of San Francisco de Castro is located in the main square of the capital city of the Big Island of Chiloe. It was declared a National Historic Landmark and a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Built by Jesuits in 1711, the work was done entirely by carpenters and craftsmen of the area with native woods like larch, cypress of Guaitecas and Rauli , the exterior was covered with galvanized iron. It has been rebuilt several times due to fires, storms and earthquakes, the current structure dates from 1910. Until recently with its towers of 42 meters high was the tallest building on the island, until an unfortunate building project began construction of a giant mall eclipsing the traditional skyline (see below). For this Christmas 2012 the church is premiering new paint and lighting whose bright colors as you can see in this shot.
